Les Musiciens du Louvre

Pablo Gutiérrez Ruiz concertmaster

Vivica Genaux mezzosoprano

Vivica Genaux

Fierce rivals in London in the first half of the eighteenth century, Georg Friedrich Handel and Nicola Porpora seem much less distant today, even in terms of their vocal styles. Both masters in the use of ‘extreme’ voices, both with a solid theatrical dramaturgy. This is demonstrated by the concert of the French ensemble Les Musiciens du Louvre (founded forty years ago by Marc Minkowski) and the mezzosoprano Vivica Genaux, originally from the United States but now adopted by Italy, one of the key voices of the Baroque Renaissance.
