In alloro mutò il suo pianto uncovers the hidden side of the myth of Orpheus, choosing the point of view of a dismayed witness: Daphne, Eurydice’s favourite, who also was in the mood for love for the poet of the gods. Going back to the ancient sources, the myth of Orpheus reveals a grisly, barbaric and fericious soul: Eurydice dies to escape Aristaeus’ violence; Orpheus, after coming back from the Underworld, is dismembered by the Furies and his head reaches the island of Lesbos where it rejoins his body. The music created by Sammarchi is designed as an uniterrupted sound flow where the ancient harmonies inspired by the myth of Orpheus emerge from and dive in the contemporary musical “continuum”.
