BACH-HÄNDEL I

La Venexiana

 «Italian Duets»

If compared to an opera scene with two characters, the chamber duet allows to linger on compositional subtleties that could not be presented to the diverse audience of a public theatre hall; to experiment with unedited vocal and instrumental solutions, and to entice with the spiciness of unexpected modulations. In this lively and seductive genre, young Händel crossed the road with Italian predecessors and rivals such as Antonio Lotti, Agostino Steffani and Giovanni Bononcini, whose scores were circulating “in exclusive first showing” on the music stands of crowned heads and noble people all around Europe. Leader in the panorama of Renaissance and Baroque vocal and instrumental performance, the ensemble La Venexiana provides interpretations that are never obvious, but always refined and communicative, thus highlighting the appeal of these Händelian pages more than ever.
