Jakub Józef Orliński countertenor

Il Pomo d’Oro

Francesco Corti harpsichord, conductor

Jakub Józef Orliński

Farinelli’s voice, like those of all seventeenth- and eighteenth-century evirated cantors, is and must remain a mystery. Some of his contemporary epigones, however, come close, if not to his vocal qualities and soprano extension, at least to his singing style. This is the case of the Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, who, due to the perfection of his legato, the homogeneity of his colours and the precision of his diction, is undoubtedly one of the most reliable interpreters of Farinelli’s repertoire and beyond. Preceded by a conversation by Carlo Vitali, Orliński appears with the flawless ensemble “Il Pomo d’Oro”, conducted by Francesco Corti, performing a rich and sophisticated programme.
