The Trio Pantoum, winner of the twenty-first edition of the renowned Trieste Trio Award, has chosen the poetic form of the pantoum as its “ideal manifesto”, a type of oral poetry born in Malaysia and arriving in France in the late nineteenth century, entirely built on the contrast between exteriority and interiority. It is no coincidence that their concert moves between the “dramatic fury” of Schubert’s Trio op.100 and the “extroverted intimacy” of Saint-Saëns’ Trio with piano.
