On the one hand, he was the favourite pupil of Giambattista Martini; on the other, he served as a teacher\u2014at various stages\u2014to Rossini, Donizetti, and Morlacchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His long life unfolded along the three principal lines of activity typical of the time: teaching, institutional appointments, and composition.
