The sound frame of this concert is designed by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, but the picture is painted by Seong-Jin Cho, a twenty-nine year old Korean pianist who has established himself internationally thanks to his victory in the 2015 Chopin Competition. In perfect balance between rigor and freedom, between virtuosity and softness of sound Cho is confronted with the first of Mozart’s Viennese concerts and with the first blade of the diptych of Chopin’s Piano Concertos, sharing his stylistic choices with the legendary English orchestra founded by Sir Neville Marriner and conducted today by Joshua Bell.
