Evgeny Kissin

Auditorium Teatro Manzoni

Evgeny Kissin is undoubtedly one of the most beloved pianists of our time, not only for the transcendental virtuosity that has accompanied him since childhood, but also for his musical intelligence, which lends every performance a truly unique depth and poetic quality.

His appearance in Bologna—Italian dates on his tours are always extremely selective—is once again an exceptional event, made even more special by its double format, combining the extraordinary artistic level of his recitals with a distinctive educational and social dimension.

On Sunday 30 March, Kissin will meet his devoted audience as well as students from the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, listening to their performances and offering valuable interpretative insights.

The unmissable recital on Monday 31 March opens with Bach’s Partita No. 2, followed by two celebrated Nocturnes and the Scherzo, Op. 54 by Chopin. The second half is devoted entirely to Shostakovich, featuring the Piano Sonata No. 2 and a selection from the Preludes and Fugues.

A programme conceived specifically for this occasion, following a subtle thread that links Bach and Chopin to Shostakovich, marking the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death this year.
