A Children’s Performance Freely Inspired by Verdi’s Rigoletto
Freely inspired by Rigoletto, this adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera transforms the court of Mantua into an original and colourful board game: MantovCity.
The Duke becomes the “Master” who sets the rules of the game—at times strange and unjust. At the centre of the story is Gilda, the beloved daughter of the court jester Rigoletto, who embarks on a journey that intertwines life and emotions.
A Theatrical Game of Music and Freedom
On stage, the “game of life” takes shape, where Gilda is a courageous young girl learning to make her own choices and to follow her own path, freely.
The narrative, light and imaginative, reinterprets Verdi’s opera in a form accessible to younger audiences, while preserving the expressive power of music and singing as storytelling tools.
The Audience Takes Part in MantovCity
The audience is also invited to take part in the game: through music and singing, children and families are encouraged to discover something more about themselves and others.
