Alberto Schiffo: Grieg and Chopin between Sonata, Barcarolle, and Polonaise-Fantaisie
A recital that brings together the expansive form of the sonata and the nocturnal poetry of Chopin. Alberto Schiffo opens with Grieg’s Sonata, Op. 7, a work in which energy, lyricism, and narrative tension coexist, and continues with two masterpieces from Chopin’s зрелый period: the Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61 and the Barcarolle, Op. 60.
The programme highlights two approaches to the piano: on the one hand, the architectural breadth and expressive scope of large-scale form; on the other, the timbral invention and freedom of phrasing. A listening experience that alternates momentum and intimacy, with Romanticism as a shared horizon.
