When borders shift, music preserves what remains: memories, languages, migrations, identities. For over twenty years, Quartetto K has explored Central, Balkan, and Eastern Europe through original arrangements, bringing to the fore a sonic ethos shaped by ethnic diversity and the coexistence of sacred and secular traditions.
The programme moves through the Hungarian repertoire—dominated by the violin—Romanian dances, and Russian traditions, arriving naturally at Ashkenazi klezmer, a transnational language capable of absorbing diverse styles. At its core lies an aesthetic that mirrors the human voice, alternating elegiac pathos with vibrant, dance-like energy.
