Ensemble Ars Vulgaris Robindro Nikolich Mukherjee clarinet The Breath That Remains. Wandering Music and Voices of Exile
Bologna Festival presents, in world premiere, the new project by Ars Vulgaris, the highly original ensemble founded by Robindro Nikolich Mukherjee, a Spanish clarinettist of Indian-Yugoslav heritage. For this occasion, he is joined by Pau Valls Vila (cello), Robert Santamaria (qanun and saz) and Francesco Savoretti (ethnic percussion).
His music is a faithful reflection of his multiple identities, weaving together classical music, early music, jazz and world music. A wandering spirit, he now arrives at Il fiato che resta (The Breath That Remains), moving across seas and mountain ranges where the echoes of bulgar and kopanitsa dances, doina melodies, dabka rhythms, and the traditional dances and forms of the Greek coasts—longa, syrtos and sama’i—resound.
