“An Experiment with Time is a narrative, a game and a journey through a superimposition of temporal cycles that portrays the world—and life itself—as an immense polyrhythm.” Thus Daniele Ghisi, an Italian composer in his forties, describes this project for video, ensemble and electronics, commissioned by IRCAM in Paris.
The concept is drawn from an experimental narrative by the philosopher John William Dunne (1927), which suggests that in dream experience there is no distinction between present and future, as all events unfold simultaneously.
In the programme, marking the centenary of his birth, FontanaMIX pairs this work with Luciano Berio’s Sequenzas for violin and clarinet.
