“Scarlatti 300” I Bassifondi Ensemble

Oratorio San Filippo Neri

Alessandro Scarlatti passed away exactly three centuries ago, and this anniversary is bringing some of his forgotten masterpieces back to light. Among them is the serenata for three voices Clori, Lidia e Filli, probably first performed in Naples on 2 June 1701 on the occasion of the Feast of Corpus Christi, and subsequently lost to obscurity.

Its rediscovery is due to the curiosity and creative insight of Simone Vallerotonda, one of Italy’s leading lutenists, who presents it here in its modern premiere together with I Bassifondi, the ensemble he founded in 2017 to revive the Baroque repertoire for plucked strings and basso continuo. A successful endeavour.
